This policy explains what information the HangoutHunt app collects, why, and how it's handled.
HangoutHunt is developed by Aarush Parikh and Aakansh Murali. Contact: aarushparikh999@gmail.com.
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and password. Passwords are handled entirely by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing — we never see or store your password in plain text.
Profile information. First and last name, gender, city, state, zip code, dietary restrictions, and your stated interests (hobbies, music, movies/TV, sports/fitness, cuisines). Most fields are optional.
Location. With your permission, we use your device's location (or a city/zip you provide) to find hangout spots near you and to show your position and recommended venues on the in-app map. You can decline location access and enter a zip code manually instead.
Favorite places. Place names you enter are looked up against a mapping service to get an address and coordinates, which we store so we can show them on your map.
Group session data. When you host or join a group session, we store the session's room code, location, interest tags, participant names, and swipe (like/skip) choices for the duration of the session, so the group's decision can be calculated.
Usage/recommendation history. We keep a log of activities suggested to you so we can show your past recommendations.
We do not sell your personal information.
We use the following service providers to operate the App. Each only receives the minimum data needed to perform its function:
You can delete your account at any time from Account → Delete Account inside the App. This permanently removes your profile, saved places, recommendation history, and session participation records, and deletes your login credentials. This action cannot be undone.
HangoutHunt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under that age.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
Open the app, go to the Account tab, and tap Delete Account. This is permanent and immediately removes your profile, saved places, recommendation history, and session data.
On the login screen, tap Forgot password?, enter your email, and you'll receive a 6-digit code to verify and set a new password.
No. If you decline location access, you can enter a city or zip code manually and still get hangout recommendations.
One person hosts a session and shares a 6-character room code with friends. Anyone with the code can join without creating an account. Once everyone has swiped, the app picks a spot based on votes.
Please include: what you were trying to do, what happened instead, your device model and OS version, and a screenshot if possible. That helps us fix it faster.
